Tante Marie Culinary Academy aims to encourage and inspire young people who enjoy to cook. We offer a range of options that are designed to motivate and inform the next generation of culinary talent, while having fun and learning skills that will stay with them for life.

Student Masterclasses at the Academy

At various times throughout the year we welcome students from local schools to visit the Academy and take part in ‘Student Masterclasses’. Our professionally trained teachers will get students involved with demonstrations and Q & A, designed to inspire food technology students and give them a glimpse of how far they can take their interest in cooking. Essential Skills at School

Our Essential Skills in Cookery course is one of the world’s leading cookery courses of its kind, run in the Academy for adult students looking to gain a range of core cookery skills. The success of this short course got us thinking about how we could share the heart of the course with young adults – getting them thinking about the food that they eat, and giving them important life skills as they prepare to leave school. This saw the creation of ‘Essential Skills at School’.

Designed for sixth-form students, this course utilises your own school’s facilities to teach small groups of students a range of bespoke Tante Marie recipes and techniques, in an enjoyable and relaxed environment. Lessons are spread over three school terms in approximately 30 sessions – usually as an after school activity. Successful graduates of the course receive a Tante Marie Certificate of Attendance and the skills gained will also count as a qualifying activity for the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and the International Baccalaureate – which an increasing number of schools are now offering as an alternative to A-levels.

As with all Tante Marie courses, everything is included in the cost of the course; tuition, recipes, ingredients and the students’ own Tante Marie chef’s knives and apron.
