Tante Marie sponsors Woking Food & Drink Festival for a fifth year

Tante Marie at Woking Food & Drink Festival

Our students may have left for the summer, but here at the Academy we are still bustling away in preparation for this year’s Woking Food & Drink Festival.

From Friday 1st – Sunday 3rd September the free to attend festival will be taking over Woking town centre and Tante Marie will be very much a part of the festivities with a number of exciting new attractions planned.

Bitesize Presentations

Our Academy Demonstration Theatre will be host to a number of Bitesize Presentations over the course of the weekend, delivered by some of the industry’s finest experts. Talks are to include; ‘The Art of Butchery’ with local butcher Simon Taylor, ‘Mastering Wine’ with resident wine expert John Downes and ‘Food Photography’ with experienced food stylist and photographer Jon Mackenzie.

Presentations cost just £5 per person with all proceeds going to Woking & Sam Beare Hospices. Booking in advance is essential. Full details and list of presentations can be found here.

Tante Marie Tartes Food Stall

This year, as well as our residency in the festival demonstration theatre, our hugely talented teachers will be manning their very own food stall – Tante Marie Tartes!

Preparation is already underway here in the Academy kitchens, rolling pastry and cooking up some tasty filling for an impressive selection of both sweet and savoury tartes.

To give you a taste of what’s to come..think sweet chuckleberry dessert and the cheesy delights of our own recipe Tarte Flambée. And don’t worry if you are full after one delicious slice, our tartes are packaged up beautifully for you to take home and serve up for supper!

Kid’s Cookery Masterclasses

The aspiring young chefs of Woking are invited to pop along to the Academy for some fun and educational cookery masterclasses. Teachers will be taking kids through the process of making healthy wholesome, breakfast bars using naturally delicious store cupboard ingredients such as oats, dates, peanut butter and honey – using nothing but natural sugars!

Classes are in manageable 30 minute sessions and cost just £10 per child, with all proceeds going to local charity Woking & Sam Beare Hospices.

And last but not least, Tante Marie Demonstrations!

As regular attendees to Woking Food & Drink Festival will know, the super talented senior teachers of Tante Marie Culinary Academy take up residency in the festival demonstration theatre at various times during the 3 day weekend.

Each day Claire, Ally and Al will be demonstrating some of the delicious treats available to buy at our Tante Marie Tartes food stall, there may even be some yummy tasters to tickle your taste buds after each demonstration.

A full programme of demonstration can be found on the festival website.
