Tante Marie - The School
Tante Marie was originally founded in 1954 by Iris Syrett, the distinguished
cookery writer, and since then has earned an international reputation for
its exceptionally high standards of training and superb facilities.
Over the years thousands of students have come from the UK and from overseas
to gain first class training and qualifications in the culinary arts.
Tante Marie is now privately owned by Marcella O'Donovan,
its Principal, and her family, and is managed personally by her with the
assistance of Sue Alexander, Director of Studies, and a complement of 15
staff. Tante Marie stands in its own secluded grounds, in a quiet residential
area a few minutes' walk from the centre of Woking, just to the south west
of London which is about 25 minutes away by train. It is easily accessible
from London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports. It has its own car parking
facilities.
Based in an elegant mansion, with five large teaching kitchens, an impressive
demonstration theatre, theory room, library and large grounds, Tante Marie’s
extensive facilities allow for a high practical content in all its courses.
