Modular Courses

Take your cooking to new heights with the professionals at Tante Marie!

From September 2009, students attending the short courses at Tante Marie will experience a new approach to our modular courses comprising emphasis on basic and advanced cookery skills and techniques within the different subjects.

Courses will continue to inspire and refresh your culinary repertoire. Students will find that the aim of the new course structure will be towards improving your skills and techniques, starting from the most basic details, including knife skills, the importance of seasoning and the use of fresh, seasonal and locally sourced produce with an overall emphasis on actually teaching our students the skills and knowledge required to produce the finest food.

Courses remain practically focussed with our students actively cooking under the guidance of our experienced team of professional teachers.

You pride yourself on your cooking, and great eating is an important part of your lifestyle. Recipe books abound, but you are always looking for that extra flair: those special culinary skills and techniques you want to be shown and then master yourself. But perhaps you can’t afford the time to come on one of our full time courses.
Our two day modular courses are designed to teach you new skills in a hands-on environment. Each module is on a specific culinary topic and has a high practical content. Expert tuition is given in small groups, allowing close personal attention to each student, with the emphasis on imparting lasting culinary knowledge, skills and techniques. Many of our regulars have been building up a portfolio of new skills over time.

All courses are taught by the same highly trained and experienced Tante Marie teachers who teach our Diploma students. You will find these courses not only educational, but immensely enjoyable and sociable.

You get to ask our professionals all those questions you are unsure about, and we will send you home with some delicious food to feed your family and friends and some to stock in your deep freeze!

Each day includes lunch with wine and begins at 9.45 am for a 10.00 am start and finishes at 4-4.30pm. Come with a friend or family member! We can also arrange modules for groups of friends (minimum 6).
